Microneedling is a treatment that harnesses your body’s own healing process to make your skin look younger and smoother, and to help give you a more even skin tone and texture. If you have areas of sun damage, hyperpigmentation or scarring, or your skin is starting to show a few wrinkles or feel slightly looser than in the past, microneedling is ideal for addressing these issues.
At Chiswick Dental in the heart of Chiswick, we offer microneedling to help you achieve radiant, healthy-looking skin.

To perform a microneedling treatment, we pass a special device covered in tiny, microscopic needles over your skin to create thousands of tiny pinprick injuries or columns within the dermis. These columns are so small that they close almost immediately, but your skin will still respond by creating new collagen and elastin to heal the area. Visible improvements to the newly healed skin continue for approximately six weeks, leaving your complexion looking smoother and clearer.

Boosts collagen and elastin: By creating “micro-injuries” in the skin, the treatment triggers your body’s natural healing response, flooding the area with fresh collagen and elastin for firmer, younger-looking skin.
Smooths fine lines and wrinkles: The natural plumping effect helps to soften the appearance of expression lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles without the need for invasive surgery.
Reduces scars and pigmentation: Microneedling is highly effective at breaking down old scar tissue and fading hyperpigmentation, sun spots, or acne scarring for a more even skin tone.
Shrinks large pores: As the skin produces more collagen and tightens, the appearance of enlarged pores is significantly reduced, resulting in a smoother skin texture.
Improves product absorption: The tiny channels created during the treatment allow your medical-grade serums and skincare products to penetrate much deeper, making them far more effective.
Minimises stretch marks: Beyond the face, microneedling can be used on the body to improve the appearance of stretch marks by encouraging skin regeneration in the affected areas.
Minimal downtime: Unlike deep chemical peels or laser resurfacing, microneedling offers a quick recovery time, with most patients only experiencing a mild redness similar to a light sunburn for a day or two.
When you arrive for your microneedling treatment, our primary goal is to ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable. The process begins with a thorough cleansing of your skin, followed by the application of a topical numbing cream to ensure the experience is virtually painless.
Once your skin is ready, your practitioner will gently glide a professional-grade device over the target areas. You may feel a slight vibrating sensation or a light “tickle” as the tiny needles create precise micro-channels in the skin. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure usually takes between 30 to 60 minutes. To finish, we apply a soothing serum or cooling mask to nourish your skin and kickstart the regeneration process. You’ll leave the clinic with a mild glow, similar to a light sunburn, knowing that your skin is already hard at work renewing itself from the inside out.

Microneedling is recognised as a safe procedure because it works by stimulating the body’s own healing response and creates only microscopic injuries that close almost instantly. For this reason, the side effects of a skin-needling treatment are typically mild and self-correcting. You may experience some redness, stinging, itching and skin tightness for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment, after which the symptoms should subside.
Following a micro-needling treatment, we will usually advise you to avoid direct sun exposure for the next three to five days. You should also avoid wearing sunscreen or make-up for 24 hours post-treatment. We’ll give you detailed aftercare instructions when you come into the clinic so that you know what you need to do to maximise the effectiveness of your treatment.
You should begin to see some positive changes to your skin approximately a week after your treatment, but the complete results won’t be seen for approximately six to eight weeks as a result of new collagen production. Most people find they need three treatments six weeks apart to experience the best outcomes. Any improvement to scarring and stretchmarks should be permanent.
