A filling is a very common procedure and most of us, at some point in our lives, will have a tooth cavity that needs attention. Amalgam fillings are a well-established and reliable way to repair tooth damage and fix cavities, particularly in the back teeth.
They are made from a combination of silver, tin, copper and mercury fused into one metal. When in this alloy form, mercury is perfectly safe.
We understand you may be concerned about the mercury in amalgam fillings already placed in your mouth and provide a safe amalgam filling removal service. During the procedure, we use high-strength aspiration to remove all amalgam residues from the mouth. You can then decide to have a composite filling fitted instead if you wish to.
